These terms govern your use of the CroStream desktop app and the crostream.io website, provided by Steven Crothers ("we", "us"). By using them you agree to these terms and to the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use them.
1What CroStream is¶
CroStream is a desktop assistant for Twitch streamers. It reacts to chat and channel events and can drive OBS, Twitch, Discord and overlays on your computer. It runs on your machine. There is no CroStream account, and we do not host your stream, your chat, or your viewer records.
The app does contact a server we operate to ask whether a newer version is available. If you choose to install an update, it downloads that update from us. A development build also sends crash reports and diagnostic logs to Sentry, and a release build does so only if you turn crash reporting on. What is sent, and when, is described in the Privacy Policy.
2License¶
Subject to these terms, Steven Crothers grants the license to you. You may use CroStream anywhere you are authorized to use it.
Any restriction on that license, including features, functionality, and access, is listed on the download page.
We keep all rights not expressly granted. Do not copy, resell, sublicense or reverse engineer the software except as the law permits or as a separate license (such as an open-source license) allows.
3Acceptable use¶
You are responsible for how you use CroStream and for everything it does on your behalf. You agree to:
- follow the Twitch Terms of Service, the Twitch Community Guidelines and Twitch's developer terms, and the terms of any other service you connect (OBS, Discord, Steam and others);
- not use it to harass, spam, scam or harm viewers or others, or to evade a ban, rate limit or moderation action;
- not use automation (for example moderation, raids or web requests) in ways that break the law or a platform's rules;
- respect the privacy of your viewers, including any law that applies to the viewer data CroStream stores on your computer. You are the one responsible for that data;
- not attempt to disrupt, attack or gain unauthorized access to any service, to our website, or to the server that answers version checks and serves updates.
If you run CroStream's interface on a network, you are responsible for who can reach it.
4Third-party services¶
CroStream works with services we do not own or control, including Twitch, OBS Studio, Discord, Steam, Fontsource, jsDelivr and Sentry (always on a development build, and on a release build if you turn crash reporting on). They set their own terms, can change or end their APIs, and can restrict your account. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by them. We are not responsible for their availability, conduct or changes, or for actions they take against your account.
The update server is ours. It is described in section 1 and in the Privacy Policy, not as one of these third parties.
5Your content¶
You keep your rights in the content you add (media, overlays, settings). It stays on your computer. You are responsible for having the right to use it, including music, images and fonts.
6No warranty¶
CroStream and the website are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not promise it will be error-free, secure or uninterrupted, or that it will keep working as Twitch and other services change. An update check can fail, and a development build can crash. Back up your data, especially the viewer database (see Settings, secrets and files).
7Limitation of liability¶
We assume no liability for how CroStream is used. To the maximum extent the law allows, we are not liable for any damage arising from your use of it, including indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, and including lost data, points, revenue, followers, or account suspension. Our total liability for any claim is $0. Some places do not allow a limit this low, so this section applies only where the law lets it.
8Termination¶
You may stop using CroStream at any time by uninstalling it and deleting your copies. We may end your license if you break these terms. There is no account to close. Ending the license means you stop using the software, and we may stop offering you downloads and updates. Sections that by their nature should survive (for example 4, 5, 6, 7 and 9) do.
9Governing law¶
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States, and disputes will be handled in the courts of the United States, unless the law where you live requires otherwise.
10Changes¶
We may change these terms. The effective date above shows the latest version. A material change will be noted on this page. If you keep using CroStream after that date, you accept the new terms.
