Triggers and macros

When this happens, run these steps.

A trigger waits for something on your channel: a chat command, a channel point reward, a raid, a hotkey. A macro is the list of steps it runs. You build both from lists in the app, with no code, and they are live the moment you save.

Free No limit on how many you make.

When mod_owl types !clip in chat, the clip macro runs: 1. Save replay buffer, 2. Create clip, 3. Send chat message, then CroStream replies "@mod_owl clipped it! clips.twitch.tv/BraveOwl". When lunarfox redeems Cat cam, the cat cam macro runs: 1. Switch scene: Cat Cam, 2. Wait 30 seconds, 3. Switch scene back, then CroStream replies "Cat cam for 30 seconds! Thanks, @lunarfox". When nova_k is raiding with 42 viewers!, the raid macro runs: 1. Send announcement, 2. Shout out a channel, 3. Show an alert, then CroStream replies "Welcome in, raiders! Go follow @nova_k". When you press Ctrl+Shift+B, the be right back macro runs: 1. Switch scene: BRB, 2. Mute the microphone, 3. Send chat message, then CroStream replies "Be right back, grabbing a drink!".

Triggers

Anything that happens can start something.

Pick the event, pick the macro, and you are done. Chat commands, channel point rewards, follows, subs, bits, raids, hype trains, hotkeys, timers and more, each with the options that matter, like a minimum raid size.

Macros

Steps that pass things on, and make choices.

A macro is a list of steps. Click an action or drag it where you want it. Later steps can use what earlier ones learned, like the link to a new clip, and If, Switch and For each let one macro do the right thing for every situation.

Macros guide

  • Steps pass things on

A Clip step reports the link. Any later step can put it in a message.

  • If, Else and Switch

Check the bits, the sub tier, who typed it, or whether you are live.

  • For each

Repeat steps for every row of a list, every word, or every number in a range.

  • Pauses and a way out

Delay waits up to ten minutes. Stop ends a macro early, with a refund if you like.

Under your control

Who can fire it, how often, and when.

Keep a command for your mods, stop one viewer spamming it, or switch off a whole set of triggers with one flag. Try the controls here.

Test and watch

Try it with one click, then see what happened.

Test runs any trigger now, without waiting for a viewer. Activity lists every follow, sub, cheer and raid, and under each one, which triggers ran and whether they worked.

Channel points

Fair redemptions, points back when it fails.

When a macro for a reward fails, the viewer is not left out of pocket. CroStream waits for every macro to finish, then completes the reward or cancels it, which refunds the points.

How refunds work

Redeemed

lunarfox redeems Cat cam

The reward waits in your Twitch request queue while CroStream runs every macro it starts.

500 points held
Fulfilled

Every run worked

The redemption is completed. The viewer keeps what they bought.

Canceled

Any run failed

The points go back to the viewer. Nobody pays for a scene that never switched.

Left alone

No trigger matched

It stays in your request queue for you to handle yourself.

A redemption is refunded when

  • A step fails
  • The macro times out
  • A Stop step says "Fail and refund"
  • The viewer is not allowed, or the trigger is cooling down

Good to know

Channel points are for Affiliate and Partner channels. Twitch lets an app complete or refund only the rewards it created, so make the rewards you want refunds for with CroStream's Create reward action.

Queues

Busy moments, one at a time.

Ten viewers redeem a sound at once? Put them in a queue and let them out at a steady pace, so each one gets heard.
